Setup & Configuration
The VGUANG-M350 can be configured using the Stayforge configuration tool (VguangConfig). This section provides step-by-step instructions for configuring the device to meet your specific access control system requirements.
Prerequisites
- Configuration Tool: Download the VguangConfig configuration tool from the Stayforge website or support portal.
- Device Access: Physical access to the VGUANG-M350 device for scanning configuration codes.
- System Requirements: Ensure your access control system is compatible with the selected output interface.
Configuration Process
Step 1: Launch Configuration Tool
- Open the VguangConfig configuration tool on your computer.
- Ensure the tool is the latest version for compatibility with the VGUANG-M350 device.
Step 2: Select Device Model
- In the configuration tool, select VGUANG-M350 as the device model.
- Verify that the tool interface displays the correct device options.
Step 3: Select Output Interface
Choose the output interface that matches your access control system:
- RS485: For serial communication using RS485 protocol
- RS232: For serial communication using RS232 protocol
- TTL: For TTL-level digital communication
- Wiegand: For Wiegand protocol communication
- Ethernet: For network-based communication
Step 4: Configure Interface Parameters
Configure the parameters for your selected interface:
RS485/RS232/TTL Configuration
- Baud Rate: Select appropriate baud rate (9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, 115200)
- Data Bits: Typically 8
- Stop Bits: Typically 1
- Parity: None, Even, or Odd (as required by your system)
- Device Address: Set unique device address for RS485 networks
Wiegand Configuration
- Wiegand Format: Select format (typically 26-bit)
- Data Format: Configure data output format
- Timing Parameters: Adjust if necessary for your controller
Ethernet Configuration
- IP Address: Set static IP or enable DHCP
- Subnet Mask: Configure network subnet
- Gateway: Set default gateway if required
- Port: Configure communication port
- Protocol: Select TCP or UDP
Step 5: Configure Device Options
Configure additional device options as needed:
- QR Code Recognition Settings: Adjust recognition sensitivity, timeout, and code types
- Card Reading Settings: Configure NFC reading parameters and card types
- Relay Control: Set relay behavior and timing
- Indicator Settings: Configure LED and buzzer behavior
- Output Format: Set data output format and structure
- Security Settings: Configure authentication and encryption if supported
Refer to the "VguangConfig Configuration Tool User Manual" on the Stayforge website for detailed information about all available configuration options.
Step 6: Generate Configuration Code
- After completing all configuration settings, click the Generate Configuration Code button.
- The tool will generate a QR code containing all configuration parameters.
- Save or print the configuration code for scanning.
Step 7: Apply Configuration
- Use the VGUANG-M350 device to scan the generated configuration QR code.
- The device will beep or indicate that the configuration has been received.
- Power cycle the device: Disconnect and reconnect the power supply to apply the new configuration.
- The device will restart with the new settings.
Step 8: Verify Configuration
- Test QR code scanning functionality.
- Test NFC card reading functionality.
- Verify communication with your access control system.
- Check relay operation if applicable.
- Confirm indicator behavior (LEDs and buzzer).
Configuration Best Practices
Interface Selection
- RS485: Use for multi-device networks or long-distance communication (up to 1200 meters).
- RS232: Use for point-to-point communication over shorter distances (up to 15 meters).
- TTL: Use for direct connection to microcontrollers or embedded systems.
- Wiegand: Use for compatibility with standard access control controllers.
- Ethernet: Use for network-based systems requiring remote management.
Network Configuration (Ethernet)
- Static IP: Recommended for reliable system integration and easier troubleshooting.
- DHCP: Use when IP addresses are managed centrally.
- Firewall: Ensure necessary ports are open for communication.
- Network Security: Consider implementing network security measures for production environments.
Device Addressing
- RS485 Networks: Assign unique addresses to each device (typically 1-247).
- Multiple Devices: Ensure no address conflicts in multi-device installations.
Troubleshooting Configuration Issues
Configuration Not Applied
- Verify the configuration code was scanned successfully (check for beep or LED indication).
- Ensure the device was power cycled after scanning.
- Try generating and scanning the configuration code again.
Communication Issues After Configuration
- Verify interface parameters match your access control system requirements.
- Check wiring connections.
- Verify baud rate and data format settings.
- Test with default settings first, then apply custom configuration.
Device Not Responding
- Power cycle the device.
- Check power supply voltage (12-24V DC).
- Verify all connections are secure.
- Reset to factory defaults if necessary (refer to troubleshooting section).
Factory Reset
If you need to restore factory default settings:
- Generate a configuration code with default settings using the configuration tool.
- Scan the default configuration code with the device.
- Power cycle the device to apply defaults.
Alternatively, contact Stayforge support for factory reset procedures specific to your device version.
For detailed configuration tool usage and advanced options, refer to the "VguangConfig Configuration Tool User Manual" available on the Stayforge website.
